That would be nice I tried his version on my FireTV and it didn't work as well as yours did for me.

Here's the discussion I was following but there is no mention of a specific Plex software fix: https://forums.plex.tv/discussion/22...ng-to-25-hours

In my testing, it doesn't happen in Plex anymore although Plex currently remuxes .ts files for playback on the Shield so that probably affects it.

That would be great. I do not intend to side-load any apps so typically I would only use the Amazon store for the app. While an optimized Fire TV version would probably be ideal, unless you guys figure that you will only publish the forked version there, I will never receive that version.

Thanks!

Turns out these MPEG-2 recordings were mistakenly created in Sage in the "TS" format and were locking up Windows Explorer so I deleted them. I just made a "PS" recording and have the same results as cculpepp with ExoPlayer: choppy video with no sound.

So, in doing a little research, it looks like ExoPlayer doesn't support the PS format.

@Narflex added the PS support to ExoPlayer after this issue was created.

A different issue that can happen is if the content is H.264, it doesn't appear that SageTV will choose TS over PS and the end result is a file that doesn't playback correctly on most normal devices (including the Android miniclient). In this case it's not a fault of the player since H.264 isn't supposed to be in a PS container.

Shield is connected directly to the TV and via HDMI only. I disabled the passthru setting and allowed ffmpeg to decode the AC3. I have had an issue though but it was while playing HD. The playback speed started going really slow and choppy. Clicking watch TV again fixed it but I've went back to IJK Player again since I see no advantage in using Exoplayer if it has the potential for problems.

ExoPlayer TS H264

My Recordings are all HDPVR H264 .ts files. I've been using ExoPlayer for the last week and here are my thoughts....

1. I get fewer "slo-mo" starts on ts file (ie, with ijk when I start a ts file I'll sometimes get slo-mo video... if I pause or skip ahead/bak it fixes it). I don't get that with Exo
2. I get lots of seek issues I can usually seek OK, but sometimes, after a seek, the timebar is wrong... this leads some other confusion around commercial skipping.

All in all... Exo has been performing well... just the TS seeking bothers me

It's really something with .ts files and ExoPlayer... sometimes when I skip ahead, ExoPlayer loses the correct "time" and I jump back (usually) to an older time.

+1. The ONLY thing that IJKPlayer doesn't do is bitstream audio. Other than that it never has any issues with any of my recordings.

Audio passthrough is the number one requirement for me

Do people not use the client much for remote viewing? I travel a bit and IJKPlayer is spotty with skipping, (and network speeds are not the issue). Should I instead be trying to better integrate with Emby (or Plex, but I prefer Emby)?

I can't say that I use it... often, other than for testing... Skipping is going to be an issue, mainly, because it's being transcoded on the fly. Likely you are going to have much better success with streaming if you use Emby or Plex... since they have many more bodies working on the problems.

Me too. I also get some lip sync problems with IJKPlayer presumably due to the lack of passthrough.
