Sage TV started to crash with Exception code: 0xc0000005

Hi,

after the today's Win10 updatemy SageTV 7.1.9.256 crashes when I attempt to play back a ts recording. Downloaded video in mkv format plays normally.
I have not changed any STV configurations.

I just noticed that the Event log says that my SageTV.exe version is 6.0.13.1, which I do not understand. STV System Information gives me the 7.1.9.256 version.
Recording seems to be working normally.
Anyway, here is the event log:

Faulting application name: SageTV.exe, version: 6.0.13.1, time stamp: 0x4e036094
Faulting module name: CompPkgSup.DLL, version: 10.0.14393.953, time stamp: 0x58ba5a1f

Report Id: 719ea26f-60ce-46ea-8359-be4946a2ddf6

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Frank

Just to add, I uninstalled the latest KB4013418 update and everything is back to normal.

Any advice on how to block this update from reinstalling itself? Running Win10 Pro 1607.

Thanks
Frank

I was having similar problems with .ts files (I originally thought it was because I was also using a .srt subtitle file) that also started occurring right after the latest (delayed a month) set of patches. My Sage client version number, is correct:

Faulting application name: SageTVClient.exe, version: 9.0.13.536, time stamp: 0x5880f45a

How I was able to get all of my clients and server working (without uninstalling any updates) was, oddly enough, to switch from using ffdshow to the latest LAV Filters for the MPEG2 and HD Audio and H.264 Video decoding and everything is working...

Googling that DLL looks, it looks to be a MS bug.

For example, https://forum.silicondust.com/forum/...ic.php?t=64068

Same problem here. Using EVR. Switched H.264 Video Decoder Filter to Default which used ArcSoft Video Decoder from Hauppauge installation. Had been using Microsoft DTV-DVD Video Decoder. TS now play OK.
