Is there a reason why the second gen fire stick cant handle it still?

is the quad core cpu "fake"?

Just moving the cursor around the menu is super laggy and running the mpeg2 hardware decoder with the exoplayer still gives you choppy video

I can't speak about your UI speed, but using Exoplayer with certain (many?) MPEG-2 streams will produce choppy playback regardless of the capabilities of the hardware it's run on, including NV Shield.

Aside: Plex have moved to Exoplayer 2 on Android and are pumping back a lot of MPEG-2 playback fixes according to their devs. Let's hope this has a positive affect on the miniclient if/when Stuckless builds with a future Exo release.

Exoplayer is a dead-end. From Plex today in an email:

"We have a lot of changes for our own functionality in ExoPlayer v2, however it's all private and isn't released as open-source."
