Hi

I'm trying to get my hands on the NvDVD codec to try, can anyone point me to a download?

Thanks

I believe it's only available with the NvDVD software which is included with some video cards. You can get a copy for $7 with free shipping at newegg
and then download the updates from nvidia

I've no problem with paying for the Codec.

I can't find a way to add that item to the shopping basket. Also, I'm in the UK, which may pose a problem if it's not an online download.

I've been looking for this codec myself... From what I can gather from various posts, Nvidia has abandoned the product and is not producing/supporting it anymore which is probably why you can't buy it from NewEgg. Actually, Nvidia's website states that a full retail version of NvDVD was never available for sale. It says the product was only packaged with some e.VGA products, but recent posts mention this isn't even an option anymore because e.VGA no longer includes this player with its cards (probably because Nvidia has abandoned the software). You'll probably have to use "other" methods for acquiring this codec.

if you google 'nvdvd download,' you might come up w/ some interesting hits, specifically those from over-seas that don't link straight to nVidia

Actually, I don't think the NVDVD has been abandoned, because it's going to be included in the new MCE that comes out later this year.

actually nvDVD has just been changed to forcewaremultimedia
and will include more than just TV in the future
and yes you could buy 2.55 and older versions in the past for nvidia
also nvDVD 3 (aka forcewaremultimedia) is going to be the decoder used in TheaterTek 2

kny,

looking at some of your other posts in the forum, I'm assuming you did get the nvdvd codecs. I got my hands on a 2.27 version of nvdvd. is the nvDVD3 version a better codec and should I try locating it myself?

it has a post processor included but the decoder itself does not seem much different than 2.55

The version I have is 3.00.50
it was the leaked version by viewsonic
right now it is beta and there are more current releases I am sure
but I am not part of their beta team

you can pm me if you want more info about nvDVD 3

there is a nice bug when you enable the post processor
it acts like it is going to crash but does not

Interesting, the version shown on my nvviddec is 4.00.18. Guess it's a bit newer than the 3.00.50.
