Angry Frequent Freezes and Lock-ups

Since the beginning, but mostly in the past few days I have been experiencing 350 video-out freezes and/or complete system lock-ups.

In the past it would happen once every day or two, now I can't seem to be able to switch from one clip to the other, channels on Live TV or jump forward within a clip a few times without Sage freezing on me. Nothing has changed on my system since I use it only as a Sage TV DVR.

I remember support was mentioning heat being a problem, but the funny thing is that in the past two days the temperature over here has dropped quite a bit compared to a week ago, and back then I was not having as many freezes as now.

There are two type of freezes I experience:
1) The image on the 350 Video Out freezes but Sage seems to be working OK otherwise. (I do not have a monitor attached to the system since I use this exclusively via the 350 Video Out; for emergency access I get in the box using RealVNC.)

2) The whole PC locks-up and I have to hard-reboot it in order to get it and Sage back to work. This is the most common type of freezing.

The PC I use is a Dell with 512MB of RAM and plenty of hard drive.

Any clues or fixes?

Valerio

I don't have a 350, so I can't say anything for sure other than there have been a LOT of problems relating to the 350 mentioned.

Since I don't have one, I don't follow much of what's going in that area, but there have been several driver upgrades and such being mentioned in other areas of the forum.

Hunt around the forum for a while, maybe in the Hardware section and you may find a solution.

Sorry, I just don't know off hand where all the things you might need are or I'd post some links to them here. Maybe someone else will pass thru that can point to all the important stuff for the 350.

I would recommend that you use the New Hauppauge Beta Drivers for IVAC15/16 Combination drivers. There are newer drivers at the hauppauge site but I am not sure they can be trusted see the new drivers (22170) for PVR-250/350 on Hauppauge website thread for more info.
If you still have problems and have hyper-threading CPU I recommend that you turn off hyper-threading. That worked around the problems for me.
You should also read the Calling all Hauppauge 350 users for satisfaction poll thread.

tnx calgar - I knew somebody with a 350 would know "the most important" links better than I do. Didn't want to lead him off into nowhere though either myself.
