incomplete recordings-- spastic

This has happened a couple of times, maybe more, but today I'm fed up. I tape a show, from say 3-4 pm. I know about start/end padding. This is not about that. In that 1 hour block, I might get 4-5 mini files, instead of 1 complete file. some of those mini-files are 1 second long. The full size of a 1 hr should be 2.5 GB so NTFS file size is not an issue. The hard drive has > 20GB free adn available to sage. The PC was on and sage was not interrupted by me during the taping. The PC has enough power. PVR-250

Then the next day it taped a 30 min show fine.

Ideas??
