Using SageTv with FireTVOS

Ok so now my Firestick 4ks have the updated OS. What can I do to get the Sagetv app working again? I know that the Firestick doesn't support mpeg or mp4 now so do I need to use trans-coding as a work around to be able to play my video files? I am not in a position to replace hardware right now but I see that I will have to get android tv hardware & move away from Amazon products.

Both my 4L Fire Sticks have updated to the new OS and the SageTV app works fine.

Not sure what went wrong in my setup. This started when I updated a Firestick 4k with miniclient ver 1.7.1 I suspect I have corrupted something in the shuffle. I use 2 servers one runs from Win 10, the other from MxLinux. I added the transcoder plug in on the Win 10 server & it seems to be running the way it is supposed to now. The linux one still needs some help. I am not sure what steps I need to take to get the streaming part working well. I am not an expert with Linux by any stretch.

Re codecs mpeg & mp4, I was going by what the device states under supported codecs section. It now displays unsupported for a format it used to say supported.

As to my playback issues on firestick 4k, it seems to be issue with either codecs in device since os update and/ or my configuration of exoplayer. With exoplayer not sure that it is something I can tweak or if i needs to come from Sagetv miniclient software update.

I would like to get linux server streaming & playing files as smoothly as latest version of Win 10 server -- > client.

Any help on how I can improve playback from linux server on Firestick 4k miniclient?

My firesticks are gen 1.

I will try to rule out other potential issues such as network and hhd space etc.

Ps Exoplayer does throw out error msg so something definitely needs tweaking.

ExoPlayer may have disabled the codecs in a recent update, if there were complaints of the codecs not working properly. This is where IJKPlayer is much better since it will use software codecs if needed. If ExoPlayer has disabled the codecs then there is likely no tweaking for that.

Linux capabilities are a little behind. I have been targeting windows for all of my enhancements. Everything should be able to be built for Linux, but it will take some effort, and I am a little spread thin. Being able to properly detect newer formats and so that Sage is aware if the content needs to be transcoded or not is pretty critical to success with the miniclient. It is also important to have a transcoder that can transcode all of the formats. Hopefully in the future we will get the Media Format Detector and SageTVTranscoder builds for Linux.
