PVR350, UI video overlay bug?

Hello,

I seem to have isolated a bug. When you enable the UI on the PVR350's TV out the video will freeze briefly there after. This happens in hardware and software mode.

The odd thing is that the UI stays functional, and I can go back to the menus which display on the TV fine, however, when I attempt to watch the video stream again it is still frozen on the last frame.

I'm using SageTV build 2.0.20, hauppauge drivers v1.8A on a Dell slimline Optiplex GX270, P4 2.2ghz, 512mb.

Are you saying you are changing modes while a video is playing? If you are doing that, any number of weird things could happen.

Are you saying that it will not play the video when going back to it? Or, it's just stuck on the last frame where you left off when you tried changing modes (see above).

In either case, anytime you try changing any video mode settings you really should not be playing any video and it would be a good idea to shut down SageTV after making such changes and do a re-boot also just to make sure all the settings come up correctly.

Otherwise, please explain a bit more?

Here's the situation. I load up SageTV. I enable the tv out on the 350, restart SageTV. I go to a live tv show and everything outputs fine on the TVout to my sony wega. I have to use the remote or the mouse+keyboard to navigate the sage tv ui on the computer monitor.

What I tried after that was enabling the SageTV UI to display on the TV out of the 350. Restarted SageTV. Next I go to LiveTV and start viewing the channel. The normal UI displays on the comp monitor, but it also overlays over the video on the TV while it is playing. After a few seconds the video will freeze, but I can still navigate the UI using the remote or the mouse and keyboard that is displayed on the tv. Unfortunately, no further video will play until SageTv is restarted. If I leave UI enabled on the TV out the video locks again after several seconds.

I've verified this bug across two identical computers with brand spankin new install of XP SP1a with all security hotfixes, dx9.0b, and Sun JVM 1.4.2.05.

I had the same issue until I upgrade/downgraded my driver to
1.18.21.22162, and upgraded to the latest MPEG decoder from
ftp.shspvr.com

Now I experience the problem occasionally (once a day??) but its much more stable.
