Motorola DCT2524

I was wondering if anyone has had any success with controlling the Comcast Motorola DCT-2524 via serial cable. firmware is version: 02.33. I cant get it to work and im not sure if it will work at all on these models/fw or if Comcast just has it diasbled. Any help would be greatly appreciated as this is the last missing piece to my HTPC setup and i would love to finally get this thing out of the middle of my living room and into my AV rack

cheers

Yeah i've tried your program and it wont work for me. Im not sure if this is because the serial port wont work for this on the 2524 or if Comcast just has it disabled. Thats why i just want to know if anyone else has ever gotten this to work on a 2524.

thanks

I had much trouble at first getting my DCT 2534 to work - it all ended up being the cable I was using. I have a female to female DB9 cable which has an unknown pin configuration and didnt work (had to use a DB9 male to male adapter for the cable box), a female to female Null Modem DB9 cable (also had to use a DB9 male to male adapter for the cable box), a DB9 mouse extension cable which I thought was direct pass through but didn't work and finally a Belkin KVM DB9 extender cable which did the trick (I believe this is direct pass through). Ironicly though, the DTC.exe tool to verify the connectivity still doesn't change channels nor can I connect via Hyperterm. I'm using the MultiDCTTuner 1.2 plugin and Sage 2.1

HDTV Motorola Digital Cable Box??

Has anyone got control over the Motorola HDTV cable box? I'm not sure the model number. I have tried messing around with the DCT2000 app. But I'm a little confused about the cabling. I don't see anywhere in the back to hook up a serial cable. I have a bunch of USB's an a Ethernet port. Any clues??

I had a Comcast 2524 and couldn't get serial control to work with it, confirmed with Comcast Tech support the serial port was indeed disabled. I exchanged it for a DTC 2244 which works with serial control plugin. BTW, Radio Shack carries the correct male one end female other end straight through db9 serial cable.
