Adding a network encoder
I've followed all the steps to add a network encoder on my secondary machine but when I go to the setup screen to add it...
I follow all the steps and when it gets to the part where it asks me for my zip code to find the correct listings, it gives me an error box that says to check my internet connection because it can't contact the sage server. Well, I'm not having connection problems with anything else. Internet is fine. No configurations have changed. And my epg data for my other tuners still updates just fine. Any ideas? |

I seem to recall that having happened to me some time back, but not sure what I did to fix it.
I think what I did was shut down both computers. Boot the main SageTV (server) machine first, then boot the SageClient machine. Then start SageTV on the server machine first, and then start SageClient and SageRecorder on the other machine. Seems like if they don't start up in the right sequence for the inital setup that some part of the networking stuff messes up. I don't remember now anymore for sure, but I think that's what I did to get it to work. |

Thanks! That did the trick. Probably should've thought of that myself, but rebooting the Sage Server requires a good explanation with the wife (can't miss a recording of Passions or Trading Spaces) ;-)
