2 pci 250 cards one big headache! :(
Well as my addiction to SageTV has increased so did my need for more tuners. I grabbed another Hauppauge pci 250 and installed it. On the hardware list in XP's "Device Manager" window one has encoder and the other has encoder-16 in parans at the end of their name. I am sure if that is important or not but I thought I should disclose.
The first problem I had was that one card display a static like blury bar at the bottom of the screen. I both installed in pci slots with a pci cooling fan between them. I though it was the fan expelling an EMF noise into the tuner so I removed the fan and move one next to my AGP slot. Powered up and both showed great video! for 10 minutes. The entire PC locked up. I did some reading and I concluded that the IRQ's on both cards are set to 18 and that is a bad thing. I went into the bios and changed them and booted up. Now it doesn't lock up but one card has that messed up picture again! I stuck. Please help my SageTV addiction. I am using the latest version SageTV. WinXP Home. Firefly remote (love it) ATI ALL-In-Wonder video 1gb ram RAID 0 for Sage and video storage. Thanks, Brian Adams |

Have you tried the newer drivers for using the 15 & 16 versions of the Hauppauge cards together? See this thread, though I'm not certain if that is the very latest version of the drivers.

This does sound like the mixed 15/16 card problem. You can use the drivers that Opus4 referenced (these are what I am currently using) or you can get the very latest form the Hauppauge web site.

Hi, I downloaded the latest from hauppauge which was only one version off from mine and followed the directions from their site and it seems to be working. I am using irq 21 and 18 and it did not lock up.
I will check it today and let you all know if it is still running. When I built my house I asked them to run 2 coax cables to every room and 2 cat5's My wife shook her head disapprovingly. Now I pump cable through one and sageTV through the other. I use the firefly to control it from any room in the house and she loves it. She got mad the other night because "I don't record any of her shows *whine*". Now she send me email requesting shows to be recorded!!! You guys make me look good. When will you have a web server addon that allows her to log on and record her own shows? I did like that about the other guy's product. Thanks again, Brian |
