multiple mpegs

I just set up two 250's in a networked computer running SageTVRecorder. My Sage Server is running a 350. I tried recording three things at once just to see how well it would work. It appears that all three recordings start, but the 350 is the only decoder that keeps on going. At least that is what I originally thought. If I look at the directory, the show recorded on the 350 is ok. The shows recorded on the 250s have multiple mpgs per show. (see attached) Any ideas? Must go to bed now.

I'm still getting the split files, but I noticed they are one right after another. If I record two shows at the same time, one show will start recording, then 5 minutes later it stops and the other show records for 5 minutes, then it stops and the first program records for 5 min etc....

Could it only be using one of my two 250's? During the recordings it appears it is using different tuners (one has a #2)

Is there a setting in the properties that could be causing this? I have all of the mmc\encoders entries with different numbers.

When anything is recorded with the 350 on the server it is okay.

My setup is:

SageTV Server
Amd64 3200+
1Gb Ram
1 350
160Gb

Storage box
Amd Athlon 2200+
512 Mb mem
2 250s

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you,

Dennis

Sounds like your encoders and storage are on different boxes, what kind of network do you have? Wired? Wireless?

My first guess is it's a network issue.

I have a wired 100mb network.

The weird thing is that a recording will stop one program and start programming the other, then visa versa, in 5 minute intervals. The finished program ends up being half of the program.

I figure I must have the encoders set up improperly. I copied the sage directory and I am running two instances of the recorder, one pointing to capture 1 and the other to capture 2.

I also tried moving the storage to the same box as the encoders and I get about the same thing.

Man, have I had a butt-kicking....

That is indeed very odd... forgive me if it seems like a stupid question, did you set up both network encoders in SageTV, ie do you have three sources configured (FWIW, I'm guessing the answer is yes)

Other than that I've never dealt with network encoders so I'm about out of ideas. I'd suggest you email Frey Support if that doesn't help.

Thanks for the help.

Yes. I had all three listed. I just went in a nd deleted one of the inputs and everything is working fine. It is only when I add the third input that all #%@! breaks loose.

It has to be a simple fix. I will try and contact support. Again, thanks for the help.

Yeah, something's really odd, if I had to guess, it sounds like it has something to do with your SageRecorder setup, but I'm clueless about SageRecorder.

I had this problem a while back when I had compatibility problems between the pvr-350 and a 250(v16) chip. I still see it every once in a while if the processor is under massive load.

Ok, Here is some additional information. It looks like SageTV is only using one of the network encoders.

Could someone please send or post their sage.properties file that has more than one encoder so I can try and see where I've gone wrong.

I can manually record on both recorders on the endoder machine, but when trying to use them from SageTV on the other computer it only uses one encoder.

Are you running two instances of SageRecoder on that machine?

Thought I would give an update to the problem just in case someone else ran into it.

George at support solved the problem for me. I didn't know I needed to use a separate port for each network encoder in the same machine. Once I made that change everything worked fine. I figured it was something simple. Thanks for everyone's help as usual.
