Question about Auto Deleting

Let's say I want to record the nightly news....
And I want to keep around today's and yesterday's news broadcast

But I only want today's and yesterday's....

How do I do it?

Do I just set 'autodelete' to on, and keep at most 2?
Or does that just keep 2 recordings and never records any more until I manually delete those two?

(Is there a keep for X days selection somewhere that I didnt' notice?)

Yes if you set keep at most 2 then it will keep only the two most recent, provided you have autodelete on. .

If you set Keep at Most for a favorite to 2 & have it autodelete, it will keep the 2 latest ones, deleting the oldest one every time it records a new one. There is no Keep X Days.

Edit: If set to manual delete with Keep at Most 2, it will continue recording new ones, never deleting old ones. Right now, it will not stop at 2. People have long requested that change & we are hoping it changes in a future version.

Actually, my SageTV doesn't seem to be acting properly with Auto-delete on.

I've told it to keep at most 4 episodes of a show, and I do have Auto-delete turned on. Right now there are 7 shows saved. It does seem to delete some from time to time, but it appears to care more about hard drive space than the max # of shows that I specified.

Any way to correct this?

Do you have Intelligent Recording turned on? I have a fav set to a specific channel, but IR records the show on other channels, so it goes past the max # that way. Do you have 2 versions of the fav -- one for first runs, one for reruns? Those are a couple reasons I can think of for the # of shows to exceed KAM. Edit: Also, are any of those 7 marked as Manual Recordings? (outlined in red.)

I have IR turned off (and as a side note, I've never turned it on).

The favorite is set to First run and Re-runs.

None are out-lined in red, none are manual recordings.

To provide more data, my Sage does this on many many favorites I've setup, not just one.

I'm out of ideas on that one -- I thought it would always delete the extra shows beyond KAM when using autodelete. If no one else has any ideas and you are running the latest version of SageTV & java, and don't have multiple favs with the same name, I would suggest asking tech support. I suppose you could also try setting KAM to ALL (0) & then set it again to the number you want in order see if that resets it. ??
