SageRecorder (Network encoder) problems...
SageTV w/ PVR350 running on server # 1. (Chimera)
SageRecorder w/ PVR-USB2 running on server # 2 (Bellerophon) 100Mb wired network in between. SageTV stores is suppose to store video in d:\SageTV. This directory is shared across network as SageTV. before I added server # 2 this weekend, PVR350 on server # 1 always recorded to d:\SageTV. I set up server # 2 and set up the property video_dir=\\\\chimera\\SageTV. I also set up the encoder_merit property on the SageTV properties as PVR350 (0) and PVR-USB2 (1). Here is the behavior... All scheduled recordings are recorded by the PVR-USB2 and are stored on server # 2 in the LOCAL d:\SageTV directory. When a recording starts, it also creates a 0 lenght file on the SageTV server # 1 on it's local d:\SageTV. This file is then deleted by SageTV when recording finishes and no recording information is retained. Any clue as to why the network encoder has taken over as primary and why recordings are being stored on the network encoder instead of the SageTV server? I hope I explained this well enough...

The higher the encoder_merit the higher the priority. You want your 350 set to 1 and your usb2 set to 0.
As for it recording local instead of to server #1 your best bet is to probably change your local D drive letter on server 2 to another drive letter (anything but D) and then map D: on server 2 to the root of the D drive on server 1. The thread http://forums.freytechnologies.com/f...etwork+encoder has some good info. Last edited by ToxMox; 09-07-2004 at 10:27 AM. |

The SageTV Configuration page has a link to a document for Setting up Network Encoders. Check out what it says regarding directory paths in the first paragraph. Use the same exact path on both systems, preferably a UNC path or a mapped drive.

Boomstick,
Since you have already set up the share, change the video directory within the detailed setup to \\chimera\d$\SageTV Also, make sure the user logged on to Bellerophon has the proper rights to the directory. I don't know if it matters, but I changed the directory inside my Sage Recorder software. I don't think it matters, but just in case. Other than that, if you have the port correct you should be in business. Hope that helps |
