Cable Box Question
Currently I have Extended Basic Cable TV with about 100 or so channels. Works for me, but I was thinking ... If I got a Premium Package that required a "cable box", how would that effect the Sage Client?? Today, without a box, my Client can see all the channels and change channels in LiveTV. If there was a cable box at the main TV with the Sage Server then how would Sage Client PC's be able to access those channels used by the box??
Thanks, T. Last edited by mightyt; 09-12-2004 at 01:57 AM. |

using a USB UIRT
the same way the server would need to control the cable box and remember if you do not go with cable boxes from all cards you will need to have the tuner cards with the cable boxes to use the channels you do not plan to use with the analogue cable only you can have only one NBC,ABC, etc... in the guide Last edited by kny3twalker; 09-12-2004 at 03:34 AM. |

Client can see anything the server can.

So, if I get this right ...
1 - You can watch Cable Box channels on a Client though the box is at the server. and 2 - You would need a box for each card or you would only get non-box cable channels from those cards for server and clients. Correct? Thanks, T. |

Right. Watching on the client is the same as on the server, except that the server sends the video data to the client to decode instead of decoding it itself.
And, yes you would need a converter box for each tuner receiving channels requiring a box... just like you would need a box for each TV receiving those channels if you were watching directly on a TV. - Andy
