No audio
I have been using SageTV for quite a while now. Everything works great. I use the COAX input for general SAGETV recording.
I have now started to try to use SageRecorder to encode some video tapes to MPEG2 to transfer to DVD. I have hooked up both the composite and SVideo conections and the audio connections to the PVR250. (I have 2 installed, only using 1, tried both with the same results) I get the video from all 3 sources but no audio from the audio connection. I get audio from the COAX connection. I know the tapes have audio. I connected the player to a TV with the same hookups and the video and audio play correctly from the player. I get the same results using the Haupauge software. The only thing that I really question as to what I have hooked up is there are left & right channels of audio (red & white RCA connections) and the audio connection on the PVR250 is a single jack. I have hooked up each channel indivually with an adaptor and also combined the 2 channels into a single stereo plug all to no avail. I'm at a loss as to what to trouble shoot next, and am looking for advice and any ideas from others who have been successful using SVideo and the audio input on the PVR250. Thanks,

Success! I just wanted to report back that I had a bad audio cable.
Bought a new one at Radio Shack and hooked it up. I now have sound! Thanks goes to Goerge Oms manning the product support dept at Frey Technologies, for pointing me in the right direction to recheck my cables.

Quick question as I'm new to this stuff... do you receive sound from standard cable TV through the cable? I want to record standard tv from cable, and was confused on sound input/output.

Basically the tuner in the PC works exactly like a TV. If you get audio directly through the cable (analog cable, coax cable direct to the TV) you can do the same with a PC. If you need a cable box with separate audio video cables, the same will be true on the PC.

Thanks, I do get my sound through the cable, but also use a Denon 2802 to process cable sound to my sound system. Not sure I'm going to setup a PC on the big system yet until I get it built. Appreciate the info

You should have no problems, here's my setup: I've got the analog cable (just coax) running into the tuner in my PVR 250. I then run video from my Radeon 9500 via component to a Mits WT-46809 (I plan to switch to VGA breakout though), and audio goes from my M-Audio Revolution via Coax S/PDIF to my Anthem AVM-20, works great
