single tuner locking channel in server/client setup

Morning,

I have found the cause of my problem of try to change the channel on the client when the server is watchiing first, it is a feature

Now to get round it.

Can I add a second tuner to the server and split the feed coming from Sky into both.

I would then change the merit of one encoder to 1, so it will then do the recordings.

This would then mean, I hope, that the second tuner could be accessed by the client. When I tried to change channels, it would blast the Sky box and it would work.
Then when the server wanted to record a favourite, it too would change channel. granted, the client may experiance a channel change mid programe, but that is not an issue.

Sounds like it will work?

Simon.

It should work by the sound of it, but it would mean that you have to make sure something is not recording when you go to watch a show on the client as it will change it even though it is recording since SageTV does not know that you are only using one source across two inputs, but it sounds like you don't mind this too much.
