Deleting files

Why doesn't deleting a file from the imported video files list actually do anything? I always have to open the folder on the desktop and delete the file manually to get rid of it. Is this a bug?

I think that the import is used just to display files that Sage can play. Imagine if someone said, "I no longer want this file in the list of media files available to Sage, ie, the library." and Sage deleted that file from disk.

Well it doesn't remove it fromt he list either, you'd think it would at least remove it from the list or not be available as an option at all.

If that is true, that sounds like a bug!

I have the same problem.

Actually, I was able to delete a file in the import directory twice but the third failed. Can't figure out what I did differently.

I don't think I tried to delete them from the server's GUI but from the SageClient it's not reliable. At first I was under the impression that the client just didn't have the permissions to delete imported files on the server but it worked on two files then stopped working again.

Tried this with 2.1? I think this has been fixed or at least I don't see it anymore.

I haven't tried 2.1 yet (the GF doesn't want me to disturb that machine anymore...)

But I'm glad to hear it's improving

The reason you can't delete the files is Sage keeps changing them to a read-only file attribute. This is real annoying, and I'm fighting with it too.

If you exit SageTV and change the attribute back, you should be able to delete those files if you're quick.
