Just remember that the Hauppauge remotes use a toggle code, so each button can send two differnt codes -- you will have to learn both codes by teaching the USB-UIRT the same button twice in a row w/o pressing another button in between.

Thanks!

Andy - I've been running into problems correctly setting up the USB-UIRT for my Hauppauge Dec2000-t, and this toggling remote code thing may be at the bottom of it. (random response on the STB to the codes that Sage has learnt)

I can't see any where to teach Sage the second code for a button - how's this done? After I teach it the code for a button it tells me to move on to the next.

Thanks,
SidKnee

Make sure you also disconnect (or stop the IR Service) the Hauppage IR Receiver...

When I had mine running in parallel it was overtly energetic....

If I am reading this correctly... you mean for controlling the STB, right? Are you sure that remote uses a toggle code? One way to check for sure is to temporarily teach one of its buttons to a SageTV command by learning that button twice in a row while making sure to press no other remote button in that process.

But, if it does toggle... I don't know if you can get SageTV to send toggled codes to the STB. (I don't think so, but I don't remember this coming up before.) What kind of random response are you getting? If only sending 1 code is a problem, it would probably be when same-digit channels such as "33" are used. In Source Details, there is an option to test the infrared codes in case they weren't learned correctly. It also has options to change the delay between codes. You could try extending that, at the expense of slower channel changes. (In the v2.1 manual, see pp. 119-121.)

Are you using Girder with your USB-UIRT?

Also if you are using a hub with the UIRT make sure it is a powered hub (see UIRT web site). I was wrestling with this for a couple of hours.. Without the powered hub Girder would report random codes (more than the two toggled mentioned earlier in this thread). Once I introduced a powered hub then I would only get the two codes as expected.

Works great with Girder and SendMsg

Thanks for the reply Andy - I misread your original post and took it to mean that you had seen Sage toggle the commands sent to a STB, not read in from the remote.

My problem (as far as I can tell) is as you describe. The Hauppauge DEC2000-t STB remote uses RC5 ir codes which toggle between button presses. So when you press #1 you get code A, press #1 again you get code B, press #1 again code A again, and so on swapping between the two.

As you mention this causes havoc with double digit numbers, but there must be some other issue involved as the DEC seems to keep track of the presses for a set amount of time - so if I change channel too quickly after a previous change it ignores some of the digits. It seems strange but that's the only explanation I can see for the way it's behaving. i.e. works fine for 01 but not for 10 if I try a change soon after. Doesn't seem random though as I can repeat the problem.

I've resorted to Girder to see if this helps and at least it has confirmed the code changes for me whilst I played at learning the codes into it - but I've no idea yet how to programme Girder to respond to Sage requests to change channel, or how to transmit them out of the UIRT (just about all of the posts I've read refert to Girder listening from the UIRT and controlling Sage). I read something about 'status' in Girder and was hoping to use this to keep track of which code had been sent and then swap the codes around. Never seen Girder before today though so I think I'm in for a bumpy ride

jsturtevant - At the minute the USB-UIRT is plugged straight into a USB port - so there's no hub involved.

Cheers,
SidKnee
