See definition of hibernate http://www.cheap56k.com/glossary/Hibernate.html

Since when hibernating computer is shutdown (no power to CPU or memory) no processing is done, I believe it takes the motherboard bios to turn the PC back on from hibernate through recogniciton of Keyboard input, switch, etc.

I have a hard time believing you are in hibernate and sage is recording, I suspect you are actually using sleep mode, either Sage Sleep or PC Sleep mode via power options/Power Schemes. Sleep will turn off most components but leave low power to processor and memory.

As for the original problem: I have a remote switch in the living room for the PC in the basement, which will wake it up if I want to watch TV.

Most of the time, the PC will wake up and Sage will connect with the MVP just fine. Only about 20 percent of the times, I will have the same problem of the MVP not connecting. I am running my network set-up with the PC as the DNS server - which may or may not make a difference.

I hope Matt will chime in - he has some log entries to look for that might help you.

Thanks,
Sage sets the system clock in bios to restart 10 mins before your recording and then lets windows hibernate

As someone else already posted: Sage tells the BIOS when to wake up from hibernate - and it does. For me, it did - as you can read in another thread...

MVP Client with v3.0 problems

Matt,

I don't know if you care or not, but the MVP client works almost perfectly with Sage 3.0

There is one problem which I hope you will consider looking into and fixing:

Whenever you play any video (whether Recorded TV or Imported Video), Sage 3 will start the file then the MVP will continue to play the file, but bring the menu full screen. And worse, it brings it back to the home menu so you have to drill down again, find the show that's playing then select it again. Then it will appear on-screen.

If you have a chance to look at this..... thanks.

or you can hit the back/exit button and push play

an annoying playback issue all the same...

While we are on weird issues. Im not sure if you are aware of DVB playback issues with your client, but basically what happens is that you cannot rewind(rewind acts as fast forward). And when you try to do a big skip, it will only do a small skip. Worst yet, it tends to lose sync during any skip of a dvb created file. I have noticed time stamp oddities in the display UI, but not sure how to interrpret them as of yet..

Is there any way to make your client more tolerant of these recorded files?

I.

He knows about it. It is due to a core change in 3.0... I think he is going to release an update to the client 'soon'...

thats good news as I also encountered problems with fw/rw on certain recorded shows. Some recordings are ok though so I'm not sure what causes it, but any shows where I select to play and then the recorded shows pop up, thats when the fw/rw problems happen. But I guess it doesn't matter if you know what the problem is and how to fix it. Will wait for a fix in the meantime.

Hi Matt,

I know you care Trying to be sensitive to the possibility of a team of people asking for everything on an item you did out of the kindness of your heart.

Thanks for the update......

That is great Matt. I am having this same problem. Everytime I start to watch a recorded show, the end of show screen comes up. I can press back/exit and the screen goes away and the program continues to play so it is not a huge problem, but it is annoying. I filled out a bug report on this, because I didn't think it was specific to the MVP. I see similar issues on PC clients. Hopefully you can fix it. Thanks for your great work.

I have posted MVP Client V1.3.0 on streams.ch.

Most notable change is the support for SageTV 3.

Changelog:
  • Fix for connection problems after suspend.
  • No more disturbing MVP On-Screen icons (pause, stop etc.).
  • Support for SageTV 3
  • Improved MVP keep-alive handling (there should be fewer lost connections)
  • Start MVPClient with "above normal" process priority (added /ABOVENORMAL in StartMVPClient.cmd)
  • Improved timebar accuracy for live and timeshifted playback
Enjoy!

-Matt

awesome! Thank you for removing the icons! Seems a little more responsive than before (probably because it starts abovenormal).

good stuff.

Yup, working perfectly here.

Amazing how well this has worked for me. I originally thought I would just use this until a more capable device (Roku, Buffalo LinkTheater, etc) get a plugin to show the Sage interface natively... Well, since none of those ever came I'm sure glad the Media MVP works.

Nope, still there. Would a file which was recorded by DVB help you to analyze the issue?

Im so happy with what youve done with the MVP solution, that I dont want to overwhelm or dis-interrest you, but if you want to troubleshoot the issue or need any information, let me know!

I.

Just wanted to let you know that 1.3.0 latest version clears up the Sage v3.x beta issues for me. And I also threw a donation your way. Hope other people get the same idea.

Looks like the MVP cannot handle your MPEG stream natively as expected. I have a re-multiplexer on my todo list to solve such problems. Will take some time to get there though, sorry.

Sorry for the hassle. I hope it wasn't offline for too long (the webhoster should monitor the servers and fix problems immediately).
