On the Centering issue, go to detailed setup and adjust the overscan settings. I had a similar problem in that the menus went past the right edge of the screen. Adjusting the overscan fixed it.

Simple question for somebody just about to go buy a couple of these MVP units.. do I install all the Hauppauge software? Or do I simply add in the Sage Plugin and go from there?

I just got one yesterday and did install the software just to verify the thing works. Then I uninstalled it and did the Sage thing and got the UI to come up. (minus remote support.. but i think I have that solved, just need to get off work and go try it) |

Got the MVP, got the SageTV GUI.. but can't find directories or any "Source".. Was I supposed to copy a properties file to my sageclient install? I installed sageclient on the same machine I'm running server on... the MVP got an IP and came up with the gui first try.. I can navigate around it, but it tells me I have no source configured and when I try to point it at my video shares it shows SMB:\\ and I can't seem to enter anything that it will keep.
Help..... Perty please [Update] Got it working.. seems I needed to install the SageClient first, configure it, THEN AFTER the client was configured I installed the MVP stuff and all was well.. man, I tell you this thing is GREAT! Why would I ever run it through my PC again? Now my next task this weekend is to setup a second MVP (Thank you Radio Shack for the $40 MVP's!) using a ethernet to wireless Game adapter.. YIKES! 2nd MVP Question
According to Matt's website all I need to do is copy the sageclient folder that is working for the 1st MVP to a new folder and change the StartMVPClient.cmd to say "set MVP=MVP2"...
I've seen other posts that say to edit the sageclient.properties file to remove some reference to a startup class and to modify a MVP line in that same file... Soooo.. do I need to only do as Matt suggests, or do I need to do the additional steps that have been mentioned in older posts? Thanks! |

One general setup problem I know about is the new Wizard which does (did?) kill the osd_rendering_plugin_class settings in sageclient.properties. I've disabled the automatic launching of the Wizard, but I don't know if this functionality still works with the latest SageTV beta. SageTV knows about this problem... Should the MVP Client not work or should you have to go through the Wizard, you may have to manually fix this line in sageclient.properties: osd_rendering_plugin_class=ch.streams.sage.mvp.MVPOSDRenderingPlugin -Matt |

MVP Audio Sync problems
I've just got two mvp's up and running, one wireless! Great!!! But when I went to load 'clifford' for my children, which I recorded at "Fair" I got a 3 second or so audio sync problem.. it occurs on both clients.. some of the other things I have, that I recorded at a better rate (Battlestar Galactica) play perfectly..
Is this still a problem with the MVP? If so, can somebody please list the SageTV recording settings that DO work with the MVP? Thanks everyone! |

Edit: Actually I take that back the sizing values work for me in the detailed setup. I can size the video. Last edited by Slicky; 09-12-2005 at 11:47 PM. |

To Do List?
I was wondering if Matt has a 'to do' list? Rather than ask the "Will he, won't he, can he" type questions, it would be interesting to see what, if anything, he is still working on with this client.
It works great as is, but I'd bet there is still some stuff that is being considered/attempted.. and I'd love to know what it was.. |

He probably has no plans, since Frey is coming out with their own MVP client 'soon'...
Of course anyone who is using multiple MVPs using SageTV Cleint without actually owning all of those client licenses won't be happy with Frey's (as it will require a client license for each MVP)... Technically you should own a client license for each MVP you run using Matt's client as well though. Jason |

Hey,
I'm new to Sage and I really like what I see! Having a bit of trouble with the MVP client though... I have a PVR-150 and 1 MVP. Using MVP Client v1.3 with SageTV v2.2.8 I can get the interface to load on my MVP but it has no channels. If I try to run the Setup Wizard on the Client it wants me to setup a source but my PVR-150 doesn't show up. This happens when I try to install it as a UI or as a Sage Client. If I run the regular install of Sage then all of my channels are there. I have my Sygate firewall turned off and the firewall in my Belkin router is disabled. Any ideas? I'd love to be able to get this to work! Thanks, Sevenxbb |

Uhh OK... I found another post that dealt with this and was able to get the client working by installing Sage client first and then copying the MVP client files to the Sage directory. Only problem now is that the video and audio is stuttering. I'll search some more but any help would be appreciated..
Thanks, Sevenxbb |

Hey, that was my post about installing client first!
I searched for 1/2 a day before I stumbled accross the solution myself.. glad to see it helped! As for stuttering.. are you in a SWITCH, or a HUB? If you are not in a switch I'd guess you are having traffic problems which would cause the stuttering. What are the specs on the PC that is running the client and server? |

Yeah,
Thanks for the tip! I'm running a P4-2.4 with 768megs Intel Chipset. The MVP is wired directly to my Belkin 802.11g router. The firewall is turned off in the router. Do I need to pass through any ports if I have the firewall turned off? Anyway I get stuttering in audio and video whether I'm watching a live tv feed or a pre-recorded show. I like the interface of Sage better than GBPVR but I had no stuttering when I tried GBPVR. I tried setting my onboard NIC to 100/half duplex but it made things worse. Thanks, Sevenxbb |

BTW,
I have a switch that I could throw into my config between my PC, MVP and router. I'll give that a shot and see if it helps. sevenxbb |

OOps,
I thought it was a switch but it's a hub. Doesn't help a bit. I think I might have another NIC around here somewhere. I'll try to install it in the PC and direct connect. Sevenxbb |

Most residential routers have built-in switches so you shouldn't need to add one into the mix. Also, for the most part, the firewall included in most routers filters from WAN<>LAN, and not between LAN ports, so in the router, you shouldn't need to pass any ports. However, some routers do offer LAN traffic firewalling. But, if you are getting a connection and AV plays, but poorly, it doesnt sound like its a port issue.
