Hey Matt,

Just wanted to give you a heads up on DVB recorded playback via your client. Using Peter's new plugin, the problem seems to be resolved! Just an FYI...

What kind of error are you getting? I don't use my MVP as much as I used to, but I tried it just now & it worked fine.

Getting the "only one instance can connect to the server at the same time" error. If I ever get around to reinstalling the latest beta, Ill let you know the exact error (if necessary). I also ended with weird client freeze issues in my frontroom. Those 2 combined made for an easy decision for an immediate rollback. GL people!

I'm curious - how exactly do you run SageTV w/the MVP? I have the service doing the recording, then the pseudoclient as the main interface, then a real client running for the MVP.

If you don't use the service, you can use the full interface (recordings + UI) + 1 pseudoclient (UI only) using sagetv.exe.

I run the service and the "second" option as per Matts instructions to use the servers UI (making a copy of sagetv folder and launching in -client mode). This seems to conflict in some way with my client instance on my frontroom computer. when starting the mvp instance, the server discovery service prompted me with a dropdown to connect to the server(even know its local)..... There was duplicate entrys there. e.g. sage 192.168.2.77 twice. Im assuming thats because I run dual NIC's. Ive always dedicated one to the MVP in half duplex mode, and the other to the rest of my network applications(including my sage client). If I chose one of those i got the error I spoke of. If I put localhost in there, it would basically launch a standard UI(as expected).

Due to primetime, i was forced to a rather quick rollback.

Im very glad to hear that this is probably just some querk and not a undocumented direction change. I just had this huge "WTF?!?!" stuck in my head for a bit there....

I.

Wireless and MVP

I just got my wireless game adapter to work with my media mvp but I seem to run into a problem... my recorded shows will play for about 15 seconds and then the whole thing will freeze... I then have to unplug and replug my mvp in again and it works starting from the main menu...

Any ideas on how to get it to run w/o freezing up (using wilreless of course)....

MVP working fine for me. Running Service and Server UI on the Main PC. Running Sage client on Main PC for MVP in bedroom. Works great.

Ok, this gives me the urge to try the new Beta. My setup is just like yours with the exception that I do not run the Service. I've got the Server UI and SageClient on the main PC for the MVP in the other room.

I was uneasy seeing several people saying that the MVP client was broken with the latest Beta. I'll back everything up and install the new Beta and give it a go.

No problems with upgrade, only issue I have is when playing a recording or changing channel I have to hit ff twice before the new file plays. But this was going on before the upgrade.

Are you sure you have the latest version of SageMVP? That problem appeared with the 3.0x betas, but Matt released an update and it fixed it for me.

He released v 1.30 on 8/16 to address the 3.0 issue with videos not playing on the first try. Check the first message in this thread, right at the top.

reading back, I seem to have a differnent problem perhaps, it does not go back to the menu screen, it just apears not to actually change the channel until I hit ff twice, and then I am a little over 20 seconds into the new file since my ff advances 10 seconds.

I have mvp 1.3 and sage 3.0.11, the connection issues seem to be solved though.

Wireless and MVP

BBCritical, I had a similiar issue setting up my MVP client using wireless - I'm using wired just about everywhere but one room and I used a DLink game adapter to get the connection. It'd play for a bit then bomb out and you'd have to "reboot" the hauppauge unit. I finally got around this by plugging the MVP unit into a powered 10/100 hub (just a cheap 4 port Netgear I had lying around) and then plugged the game unit into the "uplink" port - since then it stays up just fine.

It appears the MVP unity is _very_ fussy about it's network connection and the slightest twitch causes it to hit the dirt.

Kind of an awkward solution but it does seem to work for me...

Uisng this plugin, it shows the SageTV interface of whatever STV you've selected.
