Lightbulb Software remote anyone?

Hi,

I bought my SageTV/PVR-350 bundle about 3 months ago, and I think its GREAT!

However, I have a dual monitor setup with my SageTV on the secondary screen. I was tired of rolling my mouse over to the second monitor to click the Sage window and then click the forward/rewind/pause, etc. buttons ... and I can never remember shortcut keys.

So I wrote a little app to make my life even easier. I didn't write it to sell it, so if anyone wants to use it, I'll be glad to give you a copy.

It requires dotNet, so a full install is kinda big, but I think its well worth it. It takes advantage of the windows messages in http://www.freytechnologies.com/2_pa...wsMessages.txt to control Sage TV, and works with both SageTV and SageTVClient.

The window is transparent when "rolled up", so you only see the buttons. I don't use it rolled down, although most/all of the buttons work.

When rolled up, it is about the height of my window title bar, and the buttons are pretty small, so its easy to find a place to put it. It also doesn't show up in the taskbar or system tray. I figure there are already enough apps that show up everywhere.

To move, roll down so the title bar shows, move, and roll up. To exit, right-click a button and select exit from the popup.

My testing consisted of running it from the startup group on my computer for the last two weeks. Never failed, crashed ... worked perfectly.

If you are interested, send me an email, and I'll reply with two download links. One if you need dotNet 1.0 framework, and a smaller if you already have it.

I don't warranty or guarantee it, but I certainly take feedback. If you want another way to control your SageTV, drop me a mail and give it a try!

There are sample jpegs of both attached to this document. If you have problems with the attachments, you can see the samples at:

Sounds like a great idea! Have you ever considered porting it to PocketPC to control a Sage-powered TV?

Well, I'd have to give it more controls, so that it could do everything a regular remote does. Then I'd have to figure out how to port it. I wrote a few C apps for WindowsCE, but never anything for PocketPC.

It is a good idea ... jsut dont' know that I'm technically capable of doing it!
