How to record only one episode of a series

I might have missed this, but I dont think so.

Is there a way (apart from limiting the channel that the favorute looks at) to make Sage only record an episode of a series once?

thanks,

Simon.

It will do that automatically, unless there is no unique show ID for each episode. If all episodes use the same ID number, it has no way to differentiate them. See this FAQ entry. What should happen is: if it is already recorded & still in the list, or deleted but marked as watched, it won't get recorded again.

Is that what you meant?

Edit: Hmmm... I see you are in England, so that means XMLTV. I don't know how those episodes are marked regarding show IDs.

The episodes do have showID values, thats why I had a vague glimmer of hope that there might be a way...

Unfortunately although they have showId values they will not generate the same value for the same show unless the sub-title field is in your xmltv (or this is how it appears to me). Its just one of the pain in the neck things about the current xmltv plugins. (other things are no repeat/first run info, slow parsing of xmltv data etc). In short, it is possible, but you will need to change the plugin to detect the differences between the shows (based on whatever XMLTV info is unique to that episode).

IIRC the RT grabber already puts showname/episode name in the XMLTV and this is what is used by the importer to detect unique episodes...
If there is any difference in the episode name, then it will have a different show ID...

post the XML data for 2 identical episodes that were (or are going to be) recorded...

Just an idea for a workaround.
I think that it should be possible even though I haven't played too much with the favourites manager.

You can set a series as a favourite then restrict the channel, time during which it can be recorded.
