Just noticed this problem
I don't know if this is an STV problem or a basic SageTV problem.
Cold Case is one of my favorites, and since it follow 60 Minutes, that follows NFL football it is alway late starting. So I add 45 minutes of padding to try and offset this late start. When I watch the show, the OSD says it is 1 hour long even though it is 1:45 because of the end padding. Is this expected? It is quite annoying to see the current file position peg on the right hand side 15minutes into the show. Is the total time of the recording not stored anywhere? thanks, |

The time indicator in SageTV will only show the length of time that the show is listed as using. The extra padding is not shown. Unfortunately SageTV doesn't actually measure or calculate the time/length of a file when it plays back, it just uses the info from the EPG for the show length.
I agree, it can be annoying if you do a lot of padding of shows. |

it is expected the last 45 minutes are there just watch it
the show also always starts ontime even if you have padding I have to rewind many times to the beginning of a show most of the time though only 10-20 secs |

Yes, the show is there, just kind of awkward. Funny thing is that Sage knows how long it recorded, it did the recording. Not sure why it can't put that in the file info.
