2.1 Comments - Need Help
First, I think the picture quality on 2.1 is excellent...much better (at least on my machine) than previous iterations. But, I have one minor annoyance and one big one.
The minor annoyance is that, beginning with 1.4, when you scrolled through menus, etc., it would go too far, and when you released the button (arrows, etc.), it would continue to scroll through to "catch up" and would go way past the listing you were trying to get to. With the initial release of 2, this was corrected...it was SPOT on where it would stop...as soon as I saw the listing I wanted, it would stop, dead on. Now with 2.1 it's back to missing it again...continually overshooting the target. Any thoughts on this? The major annoyance is that Sage UI will now crash every once in a while, completely randomly, right in the middle of watching a show. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to it (i.e., no constant other open apps, activities, etc.), it just decides to close. Very odd. Thoughts on this? Thanks for any help. My specs: P4 2.4C, 1GB SDRAM Win XP, SP2 Hauppauge 250 Most recent drivers, most recent Java build, etc. (everything else works fine, it just closes itself every once in a while...but frequently enough to be annoying). |

Not sure about the scrolling issue.
How did you upgrade from 2.0 to 2.1? Did you install 2.1 over 2.0? If so, then why don't you try a clean install of 2.1?

Yeah, I can try a clean install, but then if (IF) I bump in my old properties file, won't that be (essentially) the same as if I just installed over top? I don't want to lose my settings...but I will if it means less crashing. I'll give it a shot and just keep backups. I'll post back here perhaps tomorrow to let you know results (I want to give it time to reproduce any potential crashing). Thanks for the suggestion. I'll let you know how it works out. Any other thoughts in the meantime (from anyone)?

Can't help with the GUI crash issue (other than say that I have not seen it), but I think I have an idea to fix the scroll issue.
In 2.1 there are two new properties in Sage to control IR related delays. When I first started using 2.1, I immediately noticed that my previously perfect acting remote (MX-500) has become a little too responsive and often a single ket press is being treated as multiple key presses. Upon checking the Sage properties file, I saw these two new IR delay properties, and after increasing their values (the unit is milliseconds, I believe) it seems to be working fine now. I don't remember exactly, but I believe I am using values of 550 and 350 now. Try changing these values and Good luck ! |
