-SageTV, Sage Recordings, XML results in: Firefox can't find the file at http://192.168.0.229:8080/sage/Recordings?xml=yes.

- SageTV, Search Recorded TV file, XML results: Firefox can't find the file at http://192.168.0.229:8080/sage/Searc...=title&xml=yes.

I have what seems to be a corrupted wiz.bin due to crashes and reboots due to a bad memory stick and was hoping to use the xml functions to try to rebuild it so that I can get stuff where they belong.

I have tried on two computers, the server itself and another connected to the same network with the same results. All the other XML relevant to my situation worked: XML, individual imported categories, etc.

Another thing that may have been mentioned before, the about still shows at 2.25 but I am almost certain that I am running 2.26 because of the movies rss fix.

Thanks.
I can't reproduce the problem. Can you post your sage log?

This thread will provide background. In particular this post by Fuzzy nailed the issue: http://forums.sage.tv/forums/showthr...4&postcount=39

Somehow with close to 3k recordings 2k dvds and 600+ imports and somehow by pure luck I found the one item that was causing this. I am not sure of the webserver can if which file is giving it trouble to avoid the guessing.

With the XMLs on hand I am glad to report that I was able to flawlessly restore everything that needing restoring into the new wiz.bin. The only thing that needed some massaging was the favorites because although they were imported just fine they were not in order.

The jury is still out as to whether the new wiz.bin completely solves the spinning circle issue but your side of the equation worked like a charm!

When choosing a video to convert through this interface, what "engine" is being used for the conversion? Can you define MediShrink as the conversion method?

Say I want to provide a link to a video for someone to watch. I understand that /sagepublic/MediaFile is a public link that doesn't require a login name or password, but that I must provide some specific show information else the browser will just throw a java exception:
AiringId/MediaFileId/FileName not specified

What would be the syntax after /sagepublic/MediaFile to point to some recorded program?

It uses Sage's built-in engine, which uses ffmpeg.

Take a look at the 'Files' property on the detailed information page. Each file is a link with the URL you are looking for.

OK. Anyway to change it to process via MediaShrink on the server? I understand I would be able to get Conversion progress.

Close, but that provides a link to actually download the file. What about just streaming the file - a link to watch the video (without a login or password)?

Click 'Watch (Streamed)' on the left of the detailed info page. That will display a section at the bottom of the page with streaming options.

Can't transcode stream HD-PVR .ts files

I have Sage 7 beta running under XP SP3 (had the same issue when running 6.6 though). I also have VLC 1.0.5 installed on the Sage server.

The problem: when I use the web interface, I can do transcode streaming of various encoded videos, but if I try to transcode stream anything saved by my HD-PVR (.ts extension), I only get audio and no video track.

When I use VLC directly on the server to open a .ts file created by the HD-PVR it works just fine. I can also use the Stream Original Video option inside of the web interface and that works okay as well for those same .ts files.

Thoughts? Feelings? Opinions?

Thanks for any insight...

The .ts file on your server is h.264. DO you have a h.264 decoder installed on the server?

The .ts (h264) files play perfectly fine on the server if I use either VLC, Windows Media Player or Nero Showtime, so I know that VLC is able to recognize the files. Is there something else in play here that I would need to install?

VLC has it built in. WMP it probably playing it because you have Nero installed. I'm not sure if Sage uses the Nero decoders. It may just be an issue related to the new version of Sage.

Exclamation

I am just recently having issues accessing web server from outside my network. It works fine from within my network. Any ideas? The only thing I changed is I added air video server for my iPad but it is only within my network. I have reset my router a few times but no luck. I can't access anything from outside the network using http://myipaddress:8080/sage/home.

for "myipaddress" you are using your external public IP address, correct, not an internal address such as 192.168.1.10?

And does your sage server still have the same internal IP address it had when you set up the port forwarding to it? confirm the IP address and then go into the router and make sure that that port 8080 is forwarded to that IP address. In addition, make sure that remote access to the router hasn't been turned on with it listening on port 8080. But if that happened, you would have probably seen the router login screen.

One other possibility is that your ISP may be blocking port inbound 8080 traffic in an attempt to stop residential customers from hosting web services on their non-business account. To check that, you could change the web server port to something else, such as port 12345 and adjust the port forwarding inthe router to match.

It works with an internal ip address but not an external one. I know it has changed several times after power outages, reboots, etc. and I always change it accordingly. Are you asking if the internal ip address of my server has changed? That I haven't checked yet, but I will do so right away.

Sent from my iPad.

yes, you need to know if the internal IP address of the server is the same as it was when you set up the port forwarding in the router.

for instance, if the server was at 192.168.1.10 and you port forwarded all port 8080 traffic to 192.168.1.10, it'll work as long as the server is still at 192.168.1.10. but, if you have a dynamic IP address set for the server, it may have changed to 192.168.1.22, and now your port 8080 traffic is being sent to the wrong IP address. Result, no external access to your webserver.

If this is the case, then you need to statically set the ip addresss of the server so that it always has that "192.168.1.10" address, either by statically setting it in windows, or setting up your router's DHCP settings to reserve that IP address for the server, so that it dynamically assigns a "static ip address".
