Different Versions of PVR 250 Don't Work in Same System

I'm not sure if this is a driver issue or a SageTV issue.

If I try to use an ITVC15 based PVR 250 (older model, huge heatsink) with an ITVC16 based PVR 250 (newer model, no heatsink), SageTV does not work properly.

I get constant messages about not being able to detect an MPEG device. SageTV will be unable to access some of the tuners, and will eventually just die. If I have only ITVC15 or only ITVC16 based units installed, everything works fine.

I have this problem with the latest released driver from Hauppauge, as well as the latest beta from the shspvr site.

Is this a known issue?

What happens when you use WinTV2000? Do you get errors with that as well?

[EDIT]: Actually I'm not even sure WinTV2000 will function at all if there are two PVR250s in the same system.

I have not tried WinTV. I have 4 PVR's installed in my system and plan to add a fifth. I might just track down the newer versions as they are easier to find now. I can return the older style units since I have not had them for very long.

I must say that the amount of heat created by the older units is incredible. The newer units run much cooler.

Yeah, I have one of the older models and it does run extremely hot. I had bought a new one at one point to fix a problem I was having (but it didn't fix it so I returned it) and it did run cooler.

I had the same problem too! Don't use the old revision with the new ones or vice versa.

Yeah, I will try replacing my older units with newer ones. Problem is you can't tell what is in the box until it is opened. Could be difficult to replace units in the future is one goes bad.

I had some difficulties as well - but let me assure you that running mixed iTVC15/iTVC16s does work. I have 1 of each.

What worked for me is putting the iTVC15 in by itself after a clean uninstall. Then, following a reboot and install, I shut down and added the iTVC16. Upon reboot, I installed the drivers for that card (as prompted by WinXP's New H/W Wizard). Finally, a reboot and all was fine!

As for running WinTV/Win2000 in a multi-card system, that would only check out the first (or is it last) PVR-250 installed as those apps are not multi-card aware [one of the key reasons I like SageTV so much!]...
