Slow UI?

First, let me just say I love SageTV. Now the question.

When SageTV has been sleeping for a while and is restored, the UI often takes a while to reload. It has an idle screen, and after a minute or so (sometimes longer) appears. There are a few times that the UI never seems to restore and I have to kill the SageTV process and restart it.

My current configuration has me using v2.0.20 with the Nielm STV. I have a 3.0Ghz computer, usually with 99% free CPU, so I'm very confident that the computer itself is not to blame. I use w2k and generally no other significant processes as it is a dedicated HTPC.

I've avoided v2.1 so far, given the Nielm STV does what I want and am intimidated by the numerous bug reports. As a quick aside, is v2.1 stable enough to use? I saw some posts saying the UI is even SLOWER on v2.1. This is troublesome as I use VNC to connect to my server.

A local HTPC-SageTV devotee friend of mine has turned me on to SageTV, mostly for the hands-on customization ability and the user-support community. I'm interested in playing around with the program so I can be equally active.

You didn't mention how much memory you have. Your user interface may be swapped out to virtual memory on your hard drive. I suggest that you use at least 512MB RAM.

You noted that this happens "when SageTV has been sleeping for a while" but you said this is a dedicated HTPC. Why is SageTV sleeping? Just leave the interface running all the time. When you sleep SageTV, you're making the virtual memory swapout even more likely.
