2.2 decoders
Hi everyone
I've just gone through changing from 2.1 (which I was having some problems with) and going to the latest beta (2.2.1). I had all sorts of weird behaviour with the new included decoders, so I've now set mine specifically to the intervideo ones that come with the hauppage 350. Since I use the 350's tv-out all the time (I never play back on the monitor) I am very interested in making sure that I'm always taking advantage of the card and doing hardware encoding or decoding. I'm afraid that I haven't gotten into understanding the decoders and graphedit and all of that yet, but I wonder if I could convince someone knowledgeable and patient to tell me how I can be sure the card is being taken advantage of. -- I guess I'm saying, do all decoders take advantage of my 350, or will using some of them switch me to doing software encoding or decoding??? BTW -- my pauses and such SEEM to have cleared up. Not completely gone, but it seems that although I had updated my drivers it didn't quite take, or not completely anyways. I sense that the pauses are still happening, but that the sluggishness is so close to unnoticeable that it's hard to tell. Stanger, knyte .. care to teach me a little about decoders? Or point me to a good explanation? Someone posted a really good link on deinterlacing and cables and I found it really useful. thanks Cory |

The 350 does not use any software decoders. All those settings you refer to have no effect on the 350. Those are just for the software decoding that would be done using your video card. If you are only using the 350 output, don't worry about any of the audio/video decoder settings. Just leave them at defaults. But even if you changed them to something other that default, it wouldn't have any effect on the 350 output.
