Hauppauge 250 not detected by Sage 2.1
I'm having problems installing my new Hauppauge 250 with Sage. I installed the drivers (22_22292) on the bundled CD that was the same as the ones on their website. And WinTV works without any issues. But when I start up Sage I don't have any device to select.
The hardware seem to be working, but not with Sage. I tried ChrisTV too and got the picture, but didn't bother setting up the sound. What could be wrong? Can anyone post a step by step guide? Edit: I tried Sage 2.0, and now everything works, so far. Seems like 2.1 broke something in the 250 support. Last edited by Choy; 12-04-2004 at 09:50 AM. |

Sounds like you installed 2.1 before you installed the Hauppauge drivers. I take it from your edit that you uninstalled 2.1 and did a fresh install with 2.0. That's why it works, you may want to try a fresh install of 2.1 now and see how it goes.

There was an issue with tuners that some people expereinced with v2.1 & there was an updated dll posted here. There is also a newer beta v2.2.1 which contains that & other fixes which you could try.

I guess I'll try 2.1 again. But I think it is odd that sage has to be installed after the drivers. Shouldn't this be added to the faq, since it's not a standard behaviour?
Thanks for your help. |

It is in this FAQ entry from back in April, last updated in June.
The reason that you either have to reinstall SageTV or use one of the provided versions of irremote.ini _after_ installing the IR software from Hauppauge is that the ini file is reset to Hauppauge's default values during installation of the IR software. - Andy

I'm sorry; ignore my last comment. I replied too quickly before turning off my computer, and I'm so used to remote questions & having to "install after the driver" that I didn't think straight when I was replying. No, you shouldn't have to install SageTV after the drivers for the encoder. Restarting SageTV should cause it to see the new tuner. I'll stick to my original reply that perhaps you were running into the tuner issues of v2.1. If that is the case, the posted dll or beta 2.2.1 should fix that.
