Capture/Tuning Quality
After getting my Sagebox all set up (and loving it i must say) I am having one (two?) niggling issue in regards to tuning.
Being an australian (regional at that) im using free to air tv using a straight ordinary antenna. Reception isnt the greatest on one channel and while it is more then watchable on straight tv (a slight fuzz over the screen) it is unbarable on sage, with scrolling black and white picture and white noise audio. Is there a way to slightly finer tune the reception. My next issue might be related in some way, that of lines. Unnotable by straight to tv setup, sage seems to highlight lines that seem to pop up during shows. This might be happening on straight tv, but cant be seen by their faintness, but can i put a filter over the video etc to re-hide these nasties if tuning is unavailable? As you can see in picture 1 they are very obvious... picture 3 they fade out, but they are back again in pic 5. |

Could be a decoder issue. Do you have any others to try?

Defintely, interference.......Zub.
Your picture was a touch grainy. Have you thought of using a masthead amp to boost the signal a bit? Or even use a more directional antenna with higher gain. I get similar on normal TV but the PVR250 with SageTV 2.0.20 smooths them out. If you look in the sage adjustable properties and recording quality settings, there are several settings you can adjust to soften the picture and there is a dnr setting as well. |
