Lockup at end of recording playback

I have a problem with Sage locking up when a previously recorded show reaches the end. If I stop and return to the main menu prior to the end of the recorded file it works fine. I am using a PVR 350.

Sounds like the End of File bug. It's pretty common with a PVR 350. You should run a search for "End of File" or "EOF" for more information.

Sorry I couldn't be more help.

That sounds like the problem. Guess I will try another set of drivers yet again. Seems they fix one problem only to reintroduce another.
Thanks

Hi 'zarro

I have the same problem. Because a lot of people suggested that Frey doesn't know about some of these problems, I submitted a formal bug report.

I was told that there was nothing they could do, that it was a hauppage driver issue.

I forwarded the whole thing to hauppage, and they came back with an insistent reply that it was NOT a driver issue, and that it was a Sage issue. I've now forwarded the whole thing BACK to frey (as I had noted I would in my very first bug report (for encouragement)) and I await their reply.

I'll post what my results are.

In the meantime, I have tried one of the STV's and it doesn't solve the problem completely, but it definitely does mitigate the problem a LOT.

I read someone saying that several of the STV's fix this problem, I'm using malore's FWIW.

thx

Cory

After reading most of the messages on lockup, I came to the conclusion you have. I am going to try malore's STV and see if it helps. I have had the same problem with all of the Hauppage drivers I have tried so far, but was wondering if anyone has had good luck with a specific driver?

I was having the same end of file lockup problem with my 350 and Andy over on the Sage TV Software forum turned me on to a trick where you can run the Sage application at a higher priority using some command line options - worked like a champ - I tested it a number of times today with no issues. Check out the thread here:

hope that helps

Has anyone else tried this trick of running Sage at a higher priority? I will be trying it over the long weekend, but if there are any other experiences with it, I would like to hear about them.

Thanks and Happy New Year!

I've used sage at a higher priority on my server for about 4 months now. Before that, I was constantly having problems, and admittedly getting very frustrated. At this point, my system is so stable that I've decided to add hardware to mix things up just so I would have an excuse to work on the system. hehe

Many of the PVR-350 users tell me that the problem is fixed in the Cayars STV also. I don't have a 350 myself but I've added additional code also to handle the end of file issue.
