elecard decoder, how to register?
Can anyone point me to where i can register the elecard decoder? My eval apparently expired, and it's being really annoying, but the moonlight/elecard site doesn't seem to make it real easy to find information on how to register.
THanks.

Is that really the only way? I've already got more DVD players than I'd care to have installed, and WinDVD Platinum is the only one I really use.. it's an inexpensive player, but if it's possible to save a few bucks to get just the decoder, that'd be preferable..

I bought the player because I could not figure out a way to buy just the decoders. I don't think you can buy just the filters. The player/filters didn't cost much; $20.
Nice feature with the Elecard decoders is that they work fine on the 3rd display on my main pc. My first two monitors, driven by a Radeon 9000 Pro (AGP), are used for general applications. My 3rd monitor, driven by a Radeon 7500 (PCI) is used just for SageTV. I tried several other decoders with this setup, including PowerDVD XP, ATI Decoder (from Cyberlink), WinDVD 5 Platinum, and NVDVD. None of them worked as well as Elecard for displaying on the 3rd monitor. In fact, WinDVD would only display video if I set the last monitor up as Primary. The ATI Decoder would not work at all on any monitor other than the first. I think Elecard is worth the money. I don't use the player, just the filters. |

Well, I suppose I'll throw a few bucks at Elecard then.
This HTPC business is getting more and more expensive every time I turn around.. But the quality is really pretty incredible. Thanks for the responses!
