recovering wiz.bin info?

I moved 30 stargate episodes from g:\sagetv to g:\sagetv\sg and forgot to move them back to the original path before I restarted sage. After I did it, I figured I lost everything, and left it for a few days. Now, I've moved them back to g:\sagetv, but they don't show up in sage recordings.

Is there any way for me to recover them? Are they still in wiz.bin? i really want to keep the show info. Any ideas? I think I have a backup wiz.bin but its changed since then of course. Is my only option to choose one or the other, and copy that file back in while sage is not running (and service) and then startup with the old wiz.bin, and lose any show descriptrions that have recorded in the meantime??

Is there a utility to edit the wiz.bin so I can see what's there, and/or copy the info back in?

If they aren't showing up in the SageTV Recordings list, that means the show info has been removed from the database & there is no way I know of to get the data back.

That's pretty much the only option at the moment -- use the old wiz.bin or the new one.

How old are the new recordings? If they are only a day or so old, then perhaps their info would get put into the old wiz.bin if you were to restore it & SageTV updated the EPG. You could try backing up all your data files and try using the old wiz.bin to see what will happen. I would make sure to set this property, though: seeker/clear_partials_and_unwanted_when_ir_off=false. Also, v2.2.2 might be needed for this idea to even _possibly_ work -- I'm making no guarantees here, so be sure to back up ALL of your data!

Hi Andy

Thanks for the thoughts.

I forgot to mention one more piece of information -- they are running a marathon for stargate tomorrow, so I think all the information should be in the EPG for those episodes .... but sage won't have any way of knowing those already recorded files link to that EPG data ... right? I don't think we ever figured out what that number is on the end of filenames, but if it was the showid, we'd be laughing .. maybe. Do you think this changes anything??
If I'm feeling adventurous I'll try what you mention, unless you have a better idea because of the above? thx

Cory

As was said... if the same episodes are on, just record them again & dump the old ones.

It isn't the Show ID -- you can compare the show ID & the number on the filename on the Recording Detail screen. I believe that it is some sort of ID that identifies the exact airing. What I meant previously by not knowing exactly what that number is was that I don't really know if SageTV assigns some sort of number to each airing in the EPG, or if it is some value that is part of the DB to begin with. But, that number should be how SageTV identifies where a show fits into the EPG grid -- after all, you can record the exact same episode multiple times & they will all have their own file numbers but the same Show ID. (Thus, once that airing's data is shoved out of wiz.bin, you can't connect that show to another airing with the same Show ID.)
