analogue 5.1 support for the DVD player
anyone got this to work
I have just been using another program not matter how many times I setup the decoders using radlight filter manager or the default decoders in WMP or even the player itself I cannot get 5.1 output for DVDs it is always 2.0 and I am really getting frustrated here |

Are the 5.1 speakers connected to your sound card, or are you using a digital out to a receiver?
The Nvidia DVD/MPEG2 decoders are working great for me. Select 5.1 in Creative Speaker Settings, then I just set Nvidia to "Connected to a Receiver via SPDIF", and my Audigy 2 does the decoding to my 5.1 speakers. |

first I said analogue speakers
analogue 5.1 I am not using a receiver this is from the sound card Quote:
if you are connecting to a reciever via spdif then the receiver is doing the decoding not the sound card and again I said analogue 5.1 |

Well, ok, but all speakers are analog We don't have digital ears
And yes, that is the correct setting for the Audigy 2 to do the decoding to its connected speakers. No receiver is involved. |

(but that makes sense that I would get no sound, since I am not using digital output) I can get 5.1 audio to all speakers by using CMSS but I want to do discrete 5.1 not this matrixing of 2.0 to 5.1 Should I just give up on using the SageTV DVD player or what? |

Not sure why it isn't working, unless you have something different setup in your AudioHQ.

ok just tried editing the registry
added SageTV to the audio decoder I am trying to use in SageTV (my chooses are intervideo which for some reason locks you out of anything beyond 2.0 surround, nvidia decoders which my version does not support 5.1 analogue output, Dscaler 5 which does not support CSS, and cyberlink which gives me 5.1 in other apps just not SageTV) so I added all the registry settings from WMP for cyberlink and made a new SageTV folder in the registry under cyberlink and added all the Dwords SageTV again unresponsive I cannot figure out what I need to do here I cannot figure out why SageTV is so incompatible with analogue 5.1 I have tried radlight filter manager, zoomplayer, using windows media player, anything I could think of heck even mediator could get 5.1 pretty easy this should not be that hard for Sage to fix they made color calibration go from a little pop up to a real time build into SageTV setup screen |

not sure why that did not work
but it did not I got no sound at all I did finally get it working by using the cyberlink audio render strangely enough I wish there was another way to get it to work though EDIT : Hey, korben, thank you Last edited by kny3twalker; 01-02-2005 at 06:05 AM. |

There is a setting in the AudioHQ to decode DD/DTS. I've been using AC3Filter for a while... but I did have it working with my Audigy2. I did used Sonic Audio Decoders marked to SPDIF, and The AudioHQ to decode DD/DTS. Be sure that the windows control panel has 5.1 choosen too. Thats caught me more than once. Worked alright for me, but I still like AC3Filter due to all the volume control settings and DRC.

Here's what AudioHQ looks like for my Audigy 2..
Also, I messed around with the various decoders in Sage to try to recreate your problem, and found out that on my system the DVD video filter & DVD audio filter must match. So I can use Ahead, Intervideo, Nvidia, or default (Nvidia), but they both have to be the same or I end up losing video or audio. |

I do not have all that in my Audio HQ
and trust me I wish I did mine is a normal Audigy non version 2 I was using the same decoders when I got no sound from the nvidia audio decoders I guess I will just have to live with using the cyberlink solution |

You don't have Cineplayer Surround do you? I know I've had that working. I think I got WinDVD working once, but that required diving in the registry.

no had the decoder pack but never used it for anything anymore
I suppose I could try registry driving for winDVD I will give that a shot I would be happy to get winDVD working I find the sound to be pretty good with all the 24/96 output |
