SageTV with touchpanels?
I am building a new house that will have a Crestron control system.
My CD and DVD collection is stored on a 6TB PC server that will be connected to the home network. I am looking for a way to have the Crestron system integrate with the server with a user friendly interface that will allow playlist creation, searches, meta data display, etc. My integrator has recommended the OmniFi system for distribution of the mp3s, but the DVD control will just be a Windows Explorer interface that I will have to navigate with a wireless keyboard/mouse... not very "wife and kids friendly". Will SageTV integrate with Crestron touchpanels and tablet PCs? Thanks |

I'm not sure what the capabilities of a crestron are, can you display a Windows interface on it?
For a DVD server, take a look at mlbdude's SageMC STV. We've put a bit of work into the Video library so it supports DVD Profiler XML metadata. And for music, before you go big into any expensive omnifi system, take a look at J River Media Center. And one more comment, sounds like you've got a nice system, right? Why on earth would you listen to MP3s on it? You need to go lossless, think Monkey's Audio, FLAC, or Windows Media Lossless. |

Yes, the Crestron PVID can take any video input and distribute it to the touchpanels... however, navigation must still be done with a keyboard/mouse setup. I was hoping to be able to push a "CD" or "DVD" button on the main Crestron interface that would bring up a front end (Sage) on the PC server with touchpanel functionality.
I am not concerned about lossless. The mp3s will mainly be for background music. Any serious listening will be done on a dedicated player. |
