No audio when playing DVD, what am I missing?
This would seem to be a no-brainer. I have a fully functioning Sage system for TV, but playing DVDs either from disk or VOB files yields no audio. I've tweaked everything I can find, no go. DVDs play fine through Windows Media Player. This is driving me crazy!
My settings follow, I am using the new NVidia codecs, working fine in WMP. This is a freshly installed box with only Sage (2.1.10), TVTool and NVidia codecs installed on top of the fully patched XP Pro. For TV: (working fine) Renderer: VMR9 Decoder: NVidia Video Post Processor Audio: NVidia Audio Decoder Audio Renderer: Default Direct Sound For DVD: (no audio) Renderer: VMR9 Decoder: NVidia Video Decoder Audio: NVidia Audio Decoder (tried InterVideo, MPEG Audio Decoder) Audio Renderer: Default Direct Sound (tried SBLive! Wave out, Default Wave Out, SBLive! Wave Device) -O |

While playing a DVD in SageTV, you should see the Nvidia icon in the systray. Open it, and see what your audio/speaker settings are.

Not sure why but you have to use your receiver
This seems totally lame to me, but the only way I am able to get it to work is with my receiver. The analog out to my tv no longer works. I used to be able to do both. No longer. The messed up thing is that I am able to use their nStant Media program that presumably uses the same codec (the codec install installs this thing), and it will play the analog audio out to my TV. I think this is a bug.

korben_dallas:
I get the Nvidia logo in the systray when watching TV (using NVIDIA Video Post Processor), but I do not get it when watching DVD (using NVIDA Video Decoder). If I select the Post Processor for DVD, I don't get a picture. In any case, when selecting the Nvidia icon in TV mode, there are no audio/speaker settings. -O |

More Info
I get good sound and video using the Nvidia player included with the codecs. Just not with Sage.
Any Ideas? |

the audio options are not available when using SageTV cause it is not dolby certified
you will need to use radlight light filter manager also intervideo and mpeg audio decoders do not work for AC3 audio and you need to choose default as the decoder for video to get the nvidia icon to appear (it will be using the nvidia decoders though not the post processor) also what version of nvidia decoders are you using 1.0058 did not work with analogue audio decoding only spdif digital output you need to update to 1.0067 |

For nVidia's decoders, you have to set them to S/PDIF out. It's in the Speaker config IIRC, select connected to a reciever, and then check "Via an S/PDIF cable"

Per Stanger's comment: setting it to spdif out will send it directly to your sound card. If your sound card has a built-in decoder (like Audigy & Audigy 2 models), then you'll get 5.1 surround.
Not sure if anyone saw this, but there are 3 versions of the Nvidia decoders, in case you want to do software 5.1 decoding. https://www.dvd.nvidiaproducts.com/c...index.cgi#comp |

None of those will output multichannel analog with Sage though.
