sagetv recorder and dvd shrink conflict?

Hi all,

I was backing up a DVD using DVDShrink and noticed that SageTV Recorder would not let me do a video window while DVDShrink was running (with preview mode NOT enabled.) Audio would play, the screen would remain grey and I would get the following error:

There was an error with the MPEG-2 video setup.
Failed rendering video stream
ErrCode=0x80040231

If I cancelled out of DVDShrink, SageTV Recorder would then let me use its video window just fine.

My setup:
Athlon XP 2200+
512MB RAM
Nvidia GeForce2 MX400

I do have WinDVD installed and I'd get the same error regardless of whether the decoder was set to InterVideo or "default."

Any ideas? It doesn't keep SageTV Recorder from recording, mind you, but the lack of the video functionality while using DVDShrink is annoying!

Sounds like they were both trying to use the Overlay renderer, try changing one or both to default.

Thanks -- that took care of it. I switched DVDShrink's decoder to "built-in software decoder" (it was set on "system default") and SageTV Recorder plays nice with it now.
