Default record time buffers causing conflicts
I am wondering what SageTV users recommend to deal with show conflicts that occur in this situation....
I have a default of 2 mins prior to a recorded show and 3 after, but when I schedule 2 shows in a row on the same channel I of course get conflicts. It seems that I should have the option to resolve this and still let me record both shows. The current options are don't record and don't do anything. The conflict resolution could be to just remove the buffers and record. Right now it seems I need to remove the default buffers and then set a buffer for every recorded show I choose. Other ideas as this is not ideal? Thanks. |

I guess from the conflict pop-up that you mean manual records, not default padding on favourites (season passes)
Default manual record padding is an add-in by me -- it is a hack/workaround to a non-existant feature, and this conflict issue is unavoidable - it has to set a show to record, then set the start padding, then the end padding... Each of these can cause a conflict resolution popup window which I cannot intercept, and cannot easily change the options either! The only way of permenantly dealing with this is to remove the default padding, and always set padding manually... In reality I always work with favorites, and rarely set manual records, so I don't often get this problem... |

Ok...so with favorites....if I have default padding and 2 shows are set to record in a row how does SageTV deal with that assuming the padding overlaps and I only have 1 tuner. Thanks for your responses.

It can either cause a conflict, such that if you have enought tuners it will stagger the recordings on different tuners and record everything, including padding. Of course in this situation if you don't have enough tuners, something won't be recorded.
Or it can drop the padding if the favorites are "back to back" ie on the same channel in a row. Check your properties file for this line: remove_padding_on_back_to_back_favorites=true If true it will behave like the second example, if false, like the first. |

Great. So yes that setting for me is set to true...so it appears we need a property for removing padding on back to back non-favorite recordings too. Can't complain though as there sure are a lot of options as it is. Thanks.
