All "Real World" episodes are marked as "First Run"

Has anyone else noticed that all of MTV's "Real World" episodes seemed to be marked as First Runs? It always seems to say: Reality TV - First Run. The original aired date will be a date in the past but it will still read as "Reality TV - First Run". My guess is the Original Air date is not the data used to determine if its a repeat, instead it must actually use the "First Run" line of data, which must be a different variable.

Has anyone else seen this behavior for the Real World. My roommate has it set to tape new Real Worlds, and it ends up taking almost every episode that airs due to this prob (I have it set to save only 2 episodes so it doesnt hog up space) but it is annoying because the Real World airs like 157 times a week.

I guess the problem may need to be blamed on the EPG provider perhaps?

Ideas?

The Canadian EPG plugin in this thread has built-in functionality to correctly detect and fix inaccurate rerun information in the EPG data. Even though it is a "Canadian" plugin, it gets its data from Zap2It, the same place that the Sage server gets its data; so it will work for all US listings as well. Try it out and see if it solves your problem. Instructions for use are in the thread.

Regards
Lester

Timeslot..

Thanks for your message -- Yeah, I think MTV must mark all epsidoes as Reality-First Runs.

Regarding the timeslot, is that an option for Favorites? I am at work so I can't check up on that, i'll have to check when I get home. I only remember seeing Channel, etc as the choices, not seeing a timeslot option.

Or, is that a different type of recording setup (Timed Recording vs Favorites)

Thanks,
Rob

Ahh, please disregard my previous message. Just looked in the SageTV manual & found the section on "Timed Recordings" which is different than having a favorite. I may have to try that out for the Real World like you did.

For the SageTV team, would it be possible in the future to add a timeslot option to Favorites? I could see it being useful in this case.

There is a timeslot option for Favorites in some of the custom STVs, but it is not yet a featue of the default STV that ships with SageTV. If you use a custom STV to set a timeslot, any airing that falls into any part of that 1 hour timeslot will qualify as a Fav. Also, if you don't like the STV that has the timeslot ability, you can just use it to make the setting & then return to your preferred STV -- the Fav will retain that setting even though the info isn't displayed.
