When are the Win.bin, Win.bak, Sage.properties, and Sage.properties.autobackup saved?

Sorry, if this has been answered before, but I'd like to know when the Sage db and properties files are saved/updated.

While I'm working on finding out why my wiz.bin gets corrupted every week or so, I need to make sure I've got a sound backup strategy that doesn't contribute to the corruptions, and that will allow me to restore the most recent "good" file possible.

Anyone that knows what events/times trigger these saves, please let me know.

No guarantees that this is 100% correct (or any other % correct):

I think wiz.bak is updated once a day, right before the EPG update is done.

wiz.bin is updated as events warrant -- update the EPG, watch a show, schedule gets updated, add a fav, change _something_, etc; pretty much anything that affects the db.

The properties file is definitely updated when you exit SageTV & probably at some other times that I'm not aware of.

The properties file autobackup is probably created just before the properties file is updated.

Obvious tip: check the timestamps

(I take incremental backups of all 4 files every night -- while sage is running -- using a simple copy... I have had to do a restore twice, both due to my own stupidity causing my lineu to get several hundred channels instead of the normal 50!)

Thanks, guys. I was looking at the time stamps of the files last night when i posted this, but didn't trust that I wouldn't make a false assumption based on some coincidental timing/events.

Nielm,

You have no problems backing up a file while Sage is running? I just got Datakeeper setup on the machine and it seemed to do OK during the manual backup, but for some reason SyncBack repeatedly failed backing up the wiz.bin, returning a message that the "file was in use". Not sure why...
