Channel changing problem
Hi
I can't change channels in STV, but i don't know if this is normal; behaviour or a bug. I have first selected a program from the guide and selected 'watch now'. After a while i want to watch somthing else and i change channels by either mouse-clicking the up/down arrows in the top of the screen, or by using pgup/pgdwn on the keyboard. I then see the channel number changing (EPG data as well), but the video and audio freeze. I have waited 10 minutes, but nothing is happening. The new channel doesn't show (or sound). When i go back to the original channel i came from, i have to select 'close file'. STV then returns to the LiveTV guide and i can select another program, which then plays ok. So, to summerize, i can change channel from the LiveTV GUIDE, but not from withing LiveTV itself. Is this normal STV behaviour, or is something not right? In BeyondTV, i don't see this problem. I can change normally between channels in liveTV. Henk99 |

After a lot of experimenting with codes and settings i found the nvidia decoder to be the problem. I have selected the STV codec now and everything is working fine.
I kinda ruled out the nvidia decoder as is appears very populair amongst STV users. I have version 1.0.67 currently installed. However, i these fora i hear more talk about version 1.0.58. Can it be that STV is not working properly with 1.0.67? Any known issues with that? Henk99 |

Sounds fishy, I use that decoder and it works very well for me, without the issues you describe.
Perhaps you might mean to use a different acronym other than STV. Some of your references to "STV" do not make sense. An "STV" is an additional user inteface or customization made available by some of the forum users. It is specific to Sage. |

same problem...
I have the same problem, I lose audio and video when changing channels in LiveTV. Everything else works great. I use the intervideo non-css decoder (I tried nvidia also).
I first noticed this after updating to the most recent Nvidia Geforce drivers when I was trying to improve performance! I might start "going backwards" through Geforce drivers to see if the problem disappears - don't know what else to try... My system: PIII733, Geforce2ti, 256MB, PVR150, WinXPPro |

Try the V2.2.3 beta, like i did. I think (not sure) this is the first version that also include sagetv's own decoder. They work ok so far (crosses fingers...)

Hmmm, I, too, have this same problem... first appeared when I added a second hard drive. No video driver changes though. Only thing I changed was the new hard drive.
I re-entered the Video directories under Setup, but to no avail. Figured that must've been it. No luck. Really would like a fix for this one. My wife is getting sick of using "Close file" everytime she wants to change a channel. (And so am I ). Joe |

Well...in my case it was surely related to the mpeg decoder i was using. But, in the proces of trial and error i also added the video directory to the exclude list of the anti virus program. The resident scanner might affect something? It's worth a try i think.
Good luck!

Still having the problem. If it helps to diagnose this...
I have a Hauppage 250 (purchased recently), and Windows XP SP2. The video card is a Radeon 9100. I'm using the (recent?) Hauppage 250 driver posted on the Frey site which is supposedly mandatory to get the 250 working. (Before I installed that driver, I couldn't even get a video image in SageTV.) I seem to remember doing things in this order: I installed the Hauppage 250 driver I got from the Frey site over the existing driver that came with the Hauppage install CD (I did this by simply using the Update Driver function for the Hauppage card in Windows XP control panel). Didn't need to reboot, if I remember correctly. The new driver immediately fixed the No Video problem, and the channels changed fine at that point (no need to "Close file"). Then, I shut down, installed the new hard drive, rebooted. That was when it became necessary to "Close file" before I could change the channel in SageTV. Anyway. Any thoughts from anyone else? I'm going to try loading up a new MPEG decoder. But I have no idea which to try. Would prefer to NOT load a beta of SageTV. Anyone recommendations for a safe & quality MPEG decoder (and a link)? Best, Joe |

Well, all i can say is that i have 2.2.3 beta installed now. In this there is an mpeg decoder, that is the one i use now. Nvidia and a lot of others give me problems. It's worth a shot i think, it's running (almost) flawless here. I had a looooot of problems before is used this version, now it is great.
This version made me choose SageTV instead of BeyondTV. Henk99
