Questions regarding 2.2.3

Two questions:

1) I seem to be having trouble running Sage as a service. When I configure this I just get a black screen when playing back recorded shows or watching live TV. The time bar seems to get stuck at 3 seconds. Sage works just fine in 'normal' non-service mode. Sage does come up in client mode and the service shows as running. Just in case it's relevant, I have also installed the SageTV client on this box as I was playing with the MPV mod. Although I can't be sure I think I was experiencing this same problem before I installed all that stuff though. I think I tried service mode briefly and decided I'd come back and look at the problem later.

2) I seem to be experiencing audio clipping which I did not have in 2.0. I'm really not sure what I can adjust to rectify this problem.
