Hours available instead of diskspace?

Can't seem to figure this out or if it can even be done. Is there a way of showing how many hours are left on your hard drive depending on your default quality setting? Instead of diskspace.

Why does either really matter? Once it fills up it will auto delete shows and SageTV will keep your HDDs as full as possible, only deleting when it needs room for a new show.

To me, what would really be intersting to know, is knowing how much video (time and/or space) I have on hand and how much of it hasn't been watched yet.

Tony - I agree that this would be useful as a display item.

For now we have to do it manually: please see my post at

The mekeell STV does this in it's standard config. It also uses 'recorded x days ago' rather than the actual record date. I find that it is very intuitive.

You should give it a try.

If it doesn't matter, then why bother displaying the free space info at all? But they chose to display it because it matters, and for some peope, they think it makes more sense in hours instead of freespace size. I'm all for it, give the user more options.

Again, more options. Yes, yes, good idea. We need an STV with lots of options like Cayar's.

Personally, I don't show free space on my PVR systems as they are "tuned" to use all space available and there usually isn't any (well between 50 to 10GB) free. What I do show from time to time is the "amount" I'll be recording in the next 24 to 48 hours so I know what to look forward to.
