different formats for different tuners ?

I noticed the mce 500 has rca inputs nice :-)

anyway questions :-)

ok eventually I plan to have FOUR tuners via 2 ce 500's

I assume to do this I will need sage tv AND sage recorder

can these progras SHARE the tuners ? can I set TUNER priority for example lets lable then 1-2-3-4 can I use tuner 4 last. ie unless you need all 4 to record something use 1-2-3 before you use 4

with that in mind can I open sage recorder to record something in mpeg2 while sage tv is recording stuff in mpeg1 ?

also what happens if I am recording something in sage recorder or I accidentally leave it running and sage tv decides it needs tuner 4 ?

this is not really all that important since I RARELY do this and once I put 2 mce 500's into the server the pvr 250 will go into the main machine and I will do the odd ball recording to that machine (I have an svideo VCR so I am covered all the way around)

ALSO can I DISABLE tuner 4 and dedicate it to the RCA inputs for eventual connection to my satelite box since I found out this should be possible :-)

if I do this Comcast cable on tuners 1-2-3 and satellite on tuner 4 how will the EPG data be handled ?

thanks !!!

If they're all in the same box, all you need is SageTV.

sage tv will let me record something in mpeg2 from the rca inpus while recording my tv programs in mpeg1 ?

I assume only if I am only using 3 tuners at the time since each card only has 2 encoder chips right ?

cool :-)

You can customise the default recording quality for each encoding device (IIRC the PVR-500s would show up as having 2 encoding devices), and you can customise the recording quality for each Favourite ('Season pass') and each manual record...

And yes provided you have enough encoders, you can record using different encoding types/qualities on each one simultaneously...

Have a play, it is the easiest way to learn.
