no video with OSD

I have spent hours searching manual, forums, and sage menus, making one change at a time, but I may still be must be missing something.

Started when I had to reinstall, so I loaded latest beta and cayars v17 on my HTPC Client, Server, MVPs. Sever and MVPs working fine.

On HTPC Client when I change channels or adjust volume the video is completely black, although I do see the OSD. As soon as on OSD blanks/times out, you can see the video. This happens on overlay render only VRM9 works fine. I figure it has something to do with a setting for overlay or transparency but I can't seem to figure it out. I don't want transparent VRM9 menus, since when changing channels I want the sage OSD to cover the directv OSD, and overlay looks a little better to me.

I'll try anything, even if I "know" i tried that.

Install SageTV again overtop of your current installation using the fix/repair option.

This seems to happen to a lot of people and this fixes it.

I get this at random on one of my systems (A Via EPIA M10000) -- with overlay renderer, 3d acelleration disabled, overlay color keying enabled. This gives a semi-transparent OSD in overlay, but very occasionally, it gives no video like this...
To fix it, I disable and re-enable the overlay color keying in detailed setup...
It seems to be a bug in the EPIA's GFX card....

hmm, it wont let me disable overlay color keying, i can change in setup, move the curser down to a different item it shows enable, the when I back out of the menu and come back to it, shows as enabled. I have removed and reinstalled client as well as repair install.

I have 3d accel enabled.

I still have not been able to fix this problem, any clues?
Is it possible to downgrade and restore the upgrade wiz.bin?

DUH!!!!!
I had my video card setup to 16 bit video, how that changed I don't know, I didn't have reload OS. VRM9, doesn't look that bad after all.
