Audio & Video Progressively Out of Sync
I'm not sure whether this is a Beta issue or a Sage issue in general, but I've only noticed it happening in th epast week or two. Mostly because I've started to watch a lot more TV movies.
When watching recorded shows, it seems that, the longer the show, the more the audio & video become out of sync. For an hour show, I don't notice it. But for longer (like last nights superbowl) by about 2 hrs the audio and video are 0.5-1 seconds off. Some stats: SageTV 2.2.5 RC Win XP Pro P4 3ghz machine 512mb RAM Outputs through PVR-350 Additional PVR-150 as 2nd recorder Video Decoder: SageTV MPEG Video Decoder (Overlay) Audio Decoder: SageTV MPEG Audio Decoder (Default Renderer) Cayars 17 STV Does anyone have any ideas as to what might be causing this? Note that it happens with or without ComSkip. Thanx |

if you are using the outputs through the pvr 350 then you are not using overlay/sage decoders
thats for software decoding and not sure what your issue is but report a bug |

If this is when using the 350's TV + audio out, I would count it as a problem with that card, since it has been mentioned around here before. If you do a search for something like 350 sync you'll find a few threads including this one: Audio Not in Sync w/ PVR 350 TV Out

I have this problem and I have not been able to find a solution. I have just tried emailing hauppauge support. I guess I'll wait and see what they suggest.

In my case they took my number and email address and told me if engineering ever figured out a problem they would call me. No call so far. Here's the issue IMO, they have a hardware design defect that no amount of software can repair. I wish I had never heard of that card. |

Its a shame if there really is a design defect. It seems every decoder card is limited in some way. This card can't keep the audio/video in sync and the xcard can't display more than 256 colors in the UI.

True, but you don't watch the OSD for entertainment. 256 color limitation is a better price to pay rather than audio / video sync in my opinion. But I get your point. Too many short comings no matter where you turn. DFA

OK, can anyone reccomend a good, quiet slot cooler?

I also have this problem. I am using the PVR 350 tv out and audio out, and the audio gets more and more out of sync. If I set hardware decoding only to false - I can see that the software decoded audio and video is in sync, but the 350 tv output is not. Also I have found that the audio remains in sync when using the 350 tv out and Hauppauge WinTV. So I don' t think its a hardware or driver problem.
Has anybody else tried testing with WinTV instead of Sage? Does the sync problem go away? |

Yes, Hauppauge will not talk to you unless their bundled software does it. I was able to confirm it does it as well. The longer the recording the more out of sync it gets. Once in a while the thing is out of sync from the get go, but not all the time.
I have no idea of why, Hauppauge has no idea of why beyond suggesting it's heat related. I asked if the heatsink could be removed and a better one installed and they said no. |
