Control Media Center from your WiFi PDA

I saw this today on a tech blog. I know there are some options out there for doing this sort of thing with Sage, but I got lost trying to read up on it. This is an interesting fully contained product for those non do-it-yourself folks.

If Sage had something like this I'd be all over it. PocketSage, kinda catchy. So then you'd "just" integrate playback by compressing your shows to flash card size and then you could have last nights sit-com with you on the bus to work.

That's not an MCE client, it's a WiFi based remote. Do a search for Netremote. Netremote is to this, as Girder is to Streamzap (sort of).

I don't know about controlling Sage from a PDA, but I do send compressed video to my PPC manually using Windows Media Encoder. I would love to have that functionality integrated into Sage. One would hope that the Windows Media Encoder SDK could make this very straighforward for an STV developer.

Can you post a brief overview of how you've set this up? I do this now but I use Pinnacle Studio. If you've got a script that you can execute in batch I'd like to take a look at it if you don't mind.

I use Poclet Divx Encoder to compress video and play it back on my Pocket PC. I can get around 4 DVD movies on a one gig chip. Whats great is that it is a free program.

Wish I had a better answer for you, but I do it manually. I've got Windows Media Encoder defaulted to PPC settings, so I open it, pick the file, and hit encode. It's not complicated, but from what I've the STV developers do with other external apps, I'm sure this could all be launched from within Sage.
