playing dvds from the hard drive
I was wondering if it is possible to play dvd movies that are stored on the hard drive, as described in Appendix I of the SageTVV2_1Manual.pdf through SageTV Client 2.1.
I can't seem to get this to work, while other mpeg movies/shows, and livetv, can be viewed through SageTV Client 2.1 without any problems. I know that wathcing DVD's from the servers' DVD-ROM Drive is not supported but what about DVD's stored on the hard drive? When I try to watch the DVD which is stored on the hard drive, I get the following error: There was a Playback Error in playback. Details: sage.PlaybackException: ERROR (-3,0x80070057): There was a problem accessing the filesystem for playback. Anyone know if this is possible. |

Yes, but the files need to be accessible, by the client, at the exact same path as on the server. Ie if they're at d:\DVDs on the server you'll have to map a drive so that they're available via d:\DVDs on the client.
An easier way is to just use UNC naming, eg make a share \\server\DVDs and add that to your library import dir and both should be able to access it just fine. FWIW, I belive the need for this is because the "non-video" files that are associated with DVDs (.ifo, .bup, etc), they can't be streamed like MPEGs can so the client needs direct access. |
